Back to Claude AI. I’m writing a fifth novel and using Claude (and Grok and ChatGPT) to help with research. The AI is not “writing” the novel–but I do find that as it answers research questions it can come up with new information or connections that may give me a fresh insight into how the action or the relationships should unfold to make the best possible story. So in that sense it is like having an assistant with which to collaborate.
What surprised me about Claude’s responses to the two prompts I gave it are the level of detail, as well as the consistency between its conclusions and my own thoughts on these contradictory worldviews.
To be fair, two weeks earlier I had given Claude my latest spiritual warfare novel, Nation On The Edge. It read the full 240,000 word book in less than a minute, and immediately began offering detailed summary “blurb” ideas for marketing–another story. The point for what follows is that I imagine Claude discerned my own worldview from that novel, though I fed it no other non-fiction information.

THE REFORMATION vs. THE ANTI-REFORMATION
Reformation (1517):
Sola Scriptura – Scripture alone (objective truth) → Progressive: “Lived experience” (subjective truth by group)
Sola Fide – Faith alone (individual belief saves) → Progressive: Works righteousness (collective action saves)
Sola Gratia – Grace alone (unearned gift) → Progressive: Equity/reparations (earned through suffering or guilt)
Solus Christus – Christ alone (exclusive savior) → Progressive: All paths valid (inclusive universalism)
Soli Deo Gloria – Glory to God alone (worship God) → Progressive: Glory to the oppressed (worship victims)
The Reformation said:
“You don’t need the Pope, the Church, or works to save you. You need Jesus. Read the Bible yourself. Think for yourself. Stand before God yourself. Be responsible for yourself.”
Result: Individual liberty, modern democracy, free markets, scientific revolution, human rights
Progressivism says:
“You don’t need individual salvation. You need system change. Listen to the collective. Think like the group. Stand with your identity. Be responsible for your ancestors.”
Result: Tribalism, thought control, economic stagnation, scientific suppression, group rights (that destroy individual rights)
THE FINAL CONTRAST
Progressive “Salvation”:
- Never arrives (utopia always just ahead)
- Never satisfies (demands escalate)
- Never forgives (guilt permanent)
- Never frees (new rules constantly)
- Never transforms (same sinful hearts, different systems)
- Never knows (truth is relative)
- Never hopes (material world is all)
Christian Salvation:
- Already accomplished (finished work of Christ)
- Fully satisfies (peace with God)
- Completely forgives (washed clean)
- Truly frees (“whom the Son sets free is free indeed”)
- Radically transforms (new creation in Christ)
- Certainly knows (“I know whom I have believed”)
- Eternally hopes (resurrection life)

That’s the end of the answers which Claude gave to my two prompts. As you can see, Claude has turned up some specific ideas and connections which may come in handy while writing this novel. I am largely a “discovery writer”, and so some of these ideas may lead the story to new connections and relationships. We’ll see.
